The Tunisian government is planning to sell its shares in telecom operators Orange Tunisia and Ooredoo Tunisia in 2017, Reuters reports, citing a senior government official. The state currently holds a 10% stake in Ooredoo and 51% of Orange’s shares. The government has not yet decided whether it will sell the shares via a tender or on the stock market, the official added.
Qatari-backed cellco Ooredoo leads the mobile market sector with a 40.2% share of the market, whilst third-placed Orange serves 26.3% of the nation’s mobile subscribers.
