GreenCom, an established 2G mobile operator in Equatorial Guinea which launched a 3G network in August this year, is developing an advanced data and value added services (VAS) range in partnership with US-based software solutions provider Alepo.
GreenCom – which offers services under the Muni brand – is using Alepo’s complete business support system (BSS) transformation solution for voice, data and roaming to underpin its new 3G services, whilst the cellco ‘has reported early signs of subscriber growth’ following the 3G development.
Alepo says that its policy and charging control (PCC) framework enables GreenCom to launch mobile data offers and promotions such as app-based bundles, on-demand mobile data bandwidth, family plans, shared mobile wallets, location-based offers, and more. The release adds that the new software solutions made it possible for GreenCom to ‘bring together multiple communications services, including mobile voice, data, content, and VAS, as well as multiple access technologies in a single, truly convergent BSS environment,’ leading to reduced complexity and operational costs for the cellco.
