Kazakhstan cellcos to have 4G in most cities by end-2016

All four of Kazakhstan’s cellular operators are expected to have 4G LTE networks live in every regional capital by the third quarter of this year, and to have expanded services to most cities by the end of 2016, Profit.kz writes, citing Deputy Minister for Investment and Development Saken Sarsenov. At present, Kazakhstan is home to two full commercial LTE networks, operated by joint venture partners Altel and Tele2, while the country’s other two mobile operators, K’cell and KaR-Tel (Beeline), both began limited pilot 4G services last month. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Kazakhstan was home to 770,000 4G subscribers at the start of this year, while the country’s statistics agency recently revealed that there were 11.04 million mobile data users as of 31 March 2016.
