Ooredoo joins hands with Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs to keep Hajj visitors connected

As the Hajj season begins, Ooredoo has joined hands with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs to ensure those making the pilgrimage stay connected with family and friends at home. Competitive data bundles and free calling time will give Mecca bound customers great rates with ‘Musafir’. To opt for the Musafir plans, customers simply need to opt in prior to their departure and enjoy seamless, reliable and worry-free roaming services.

As part of the partnership, Ooredoo is supporting the Ministry’s Health and Safety campaign during the 2015 season. Special leaflets will be distributed from registered Hajj offices across the Sultanate to ensure the health and wellbeing of those visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Feras Al Sheikh, Director of Consumer Sales at Ooredoo, commented, “It is a very spiritual time of year for thousands of Muslims traveling to Mecca from Oman to perform Hajj, and the last thing any of them want to worry about is changing their SIM cards to say in touch with their families, especially during Eid Al Adha. Our Musafir bundles are designed for exactly that, to eliminate the hassle and added expenses often incurred with unsubscribed data roaming services.”

Launched in 2013, Musafir bundles are capped plans that are designed to limit roaming costs. The generous voice and data allowances allow customers within the GCC to keep their smartphones on and enjoy normal usage without fear of bill shock at the end of their trip. There are three plans, each of which are appropriate to the travel patterns of those travelling from Oman. There is a one day plan which includes 50 MB data for just 2 OMR; ideal for day trippers. A two day plan with 200 MB data plus voice is available for just 5 OMR; ideal for weekends. Then there is weekly plan with 1 GB data plus voice for just 10 OMR; ideal for our holidays or when travellers know that they will need lots of data even for a short trip. Voice calls on the two day and weekly plans include calling back home, calling locally and receiving calls.

Opting in to Ooredoo Musafir is easy. The Ooredoo Oman app, which can be found in the iOS and Android app stores, is the best and quickest place to subscribe. Customers can also dial *141*401# for Shahry (postpaid) and *141*501# for Mousbak/Shababiah (prepaid). Customers using this method must wait for the confirmation SMS before activating data roaming on their phone. For more information, visit any of the 36 Ooredoo stores located across the Sultanate or go to www.ooredoo.om.
