Bharti Airtel all set to roll out nation-wide mobile number portability

India's leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel today announced that the company is all set to roll out national mobile number portability (MNP).

Ajai Puri, director - Market Operations at Bharti Airtel, said, "With our complete readiness to launch National Mobile Number Portability, we aim to empower customers enabling them to retain this identity as they move across anywhere in the country."

Extending its spirit of Customer First, the company also introduced:
· Faster processing of porting requests
· Free incoming on roaming
· Balance transfers and carry forward options

With introduction of this service, Airtel customers spread across India can now easily shift from one state to another without having to change their mobile number.

Airtel customers can enjoy special offers like requests for porting within the network being processed within 24 hours. However, this will not be applicable for customers moving to J&K, Assam and North East owing to security reasons.

The subscriber could enjoy free incoming on roaming once they raise a number portability request until it is processed. They can also avail the option of transferring their balance in prepaid. And in the case of postpaid, Airtel users can also carry forward their unbilled/billed amount while porting their number to the new city.

He also added, "To facilitate a seamless transition we will also allow our customers to enjoy free incoming on roaming while their number portability request is being processed."

The process for national mobile number portability is the same as intra-city MNP.
