Huawei to sell broadband devices in open market

Chinese telecom gear maker Huawei will sell broadband networking devices including WiFi modems, routers and dongles in the open market in India. It targets to capture 40 per cent market share.

“Our aim is to provide cost-effective features for Home & SOHO customers across India through our strong distributor network on both online and offline platforms,” Huawei Telecommunications Director Sales (Devices Business), P Sanjeev, told PTI.

Indian market

Huawei estimates the Indian broadband networking device market to be around 3.5 million units per annum. The company sells its devices through telecom operators.

“Huawei is already available in 8 per cent fixed broadband households through our telecom partners across the country,” Sanjeev said.

The company has initially started selling a range of its broadband devices in 11 cities including Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
