Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Latin America has promoted Ángel Zambrano, former VP for acquisition, to senior vice president of content. Zambrano will be based in Atlanta and will report directly to Carlos Urdaneta, president of Turner Latin America.
turnervpInitially, TBS hired Zambrano to create and manage a new department focused on new acquisitions, but the section became huge, encompassing content development, syndication and strategies.
Among the most successful formats Zambrano managed to bring to Turner were The Amazing Race Latin America, Extreme Makeover Home Edition Latin America and Project Runway Latin America. He was also in charge of some co-productions such as La CQ with Televisa, and reached strategic deals with Universal, Disney and Cisneros Media.
"The strategic point of view of Ángel in every negotiation enabled the company to take advantage of our portfolio and add to it the best content available," commented Urdaneta. "He has also been leading our localisation efforts, identifying co-production opportunities with regional actors."
Turner Latin America has 18 pay-TV channels across Latin America; one free-to-air signal, Chilevision, a joint venture with CNN in Chile; and several operations for Warner Channel. In addition, it recently announced the deployment of a TV everywhere platform across the region.
