Frontier plans to offer TiVo Roamio with OTT, OTA

Frontier Communications plans to deploy a co-branded version of the TiVo Roamio DVR with over-the-air (OTA) support as part of its video offering for residential and business customers.

Frontier, an operator which focuses on rural areas and small and medium-sized towns and cities in the United States, will begin to market the offering in mid-2015 to its high speed Internet customers. The content will span major broadcast channels and over-the-top (OTT) content via TiVo's unified cloud-based service, and a whole-home gateway DVR. Multiscreen and remote scheduling functionality will be available through TiVo Web, iOS and Android mobile applications.

"TiVo's latest generation OTA platform enables us to launch a game-changing new service with delivery of the best of broadcast television, seamlessly integrated with over-the-top video, bundled with Frontier's high speed data service," said Frontier president and COO Dan McCarthy.

He added: "This is a great opportunity for our customers and a compelling strategic product for Frontier. We believe this is a model for a cost-effective, far-reaching video service of the future and look forward to it becoming a primary TV offer for our high speed Internet-only customers."
