Australian video streaming company Presto is offering a free 30-day trial to its nascent subscription television and movies on-demand service.
The announcement comes as the Foxtel and Seven West Media joint venture adds more HBO content to Presto's library, comprising every episode of the historical drama Rome, the comedy-drama Hung, and Big Love about a Salt Lake City polygamist.
March will also see the addition of HBO films Grey Gardens, the biopic about Edith Bouvier Beale ('Little Edie') and her mother, staring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange; Hemingway & Gellhorn, the story of Ernest Hemingway and his wife Martha Gellhorn, starring Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen; and Temple Grandin, starring Claire Danes as a woman with autism who revolutionised practices for the humane handling of livestock on cattle ranches and slaughterhouses.
Additionally, Presto will offer HBO's You Don't Know Jack, starring Al Pacino in the story of suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian; and Game Change, based on Sarah Palin's political campaign and starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Ed Harris.
Shaun James, director of Presto and On Demand, said: "Since launching Presto Entertainment in January, we've been fine tuning the service with the constant addition of great new content and new devices and now is the ideal time to show it off for free for 30 days to subscribers eager for a chance to give it a test drive."
Usually the subscription video-on-demand (VOD) service costs A$9.99 per month for Presto TV or Presto Movies, or $14.99 a month for the Presto Entertainment TV and movies bundle.
Content is available across Windows PCs, Mac, iPads, select iPhones and Android devices and via Google Chromecast.
