Samsung Galaxy J1 Released in Bangladesh, Available at Amazon India Too

Samsung’s most recent entry into the budget smartphone market, the Galaxy J1, was just released in various places, including Bangladesh and the Indian version of Amazon, where it can be bought for Rs. 7,190. The phone has been anticipated quite eagerly for a budget device, as users were excited to get their hands on a well-made, polished handset with a very attractive price.

The phone is not a weak device by any means, with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB built-in storage with support for a microSD card. The RAM might be a bit too low for modern apps, but it should still be more than enough for regular everyday use, especially for users who don’t need a lot of apps and have the habit of closing their current apps regularly.

The display is a 4.3 inch WVGA screen, with wide viewing angles and clear picture quality. Some reviewers have actually praised Samsung for paying so much attention to the device’s display when it has such a low price tag, as the screen is usually the first part to get downgraded by other manufacturers when they’re releasing a budget phone.

It even has a couple of cameras, a 5 megapixel one on the back, complete with an LED flash, and a 2 megapixel camera on the front, supporting various special selfie modes and advanced camera features. Samsung have actually given the device quite the good camera capabilities, especially for something in its price range, and that could make the new Galaxy J1 a competitive offer in the budget market just by itself.

The battery is not that impressive, with a 1,850 mAh capacity. While it’s not too much, it should be just enough for the kind of hardware packed in the Galaxy J1, as the processor and screen won’t need that much battery power to run for a long time. As long as users don’t take too many pictures and limit their use of mobile data, the device should be able to last for quite a long time on a full charge.

Plus, it has the special “Ultra Power Saving” mode, which can make the battery last even longer than normal for emergency situations where the user knows they won’t have access to charging for a while. When the feature is enabled, the device will automatically close all non-essential applications, extending the life of the battery, while still allowing the user to make use of the basic functionality offered by the J1, namely calling, texting, and mobile data. It’s not known how much it extends the device’s battery life by, although user reports about the feature have been positive.
