Tigo Guatemala, the country’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, intends to commercially launch 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology during the second quarter of 2015, company official Emerson Gonzalez has revealed to TeleSemana. The launch forms part of a three-year infrastructure modernisation project, which will commence in the Guatemala City department. Gonzalez expects around 200,000 users to migrate to the 4G service in its first year of operation, rising to one million by 2020.
