GLOBE TELECOM, Inc. said its data roaming scheme now extends to 75 countries from 40 previously, and added that it now offers free travel insurance packages for postpaid customers.
Aside from expanded coverage, Globe’s 2.1 million postpaid customers are automatically entitled to free TravelCare insurance. It claims the bundling of roaming and travel insurance is an industry first.
“Customers get up to P200,000 worth of protection from travel inconveniences like delayed or cancelled flights, lost or damaged luggage, as well as accidental death or medical emergencies,” Globe said in the statement.
The P599 roaming flat rate for postpaid customers provides access to data roaming for 24 hours upon initial use.
Countries subject to the roaming scheme are Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary;
India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Niger, Nigeria, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, UAE, Uganda, UK, Uruguay, USA, and Vietnam.
