Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC has extended its network coverage in the country’s North region from Mekelle to Adigrat, reaching the towns of Wukro, Hawzen, Frewoyni, and Edegahamus.
The expansion includes the installation of new 4G (5G-ready) network towers, aimed at enhancing connectivity, creating jobs, and opening economic opportunities for local communities.
As part of the rollout, Safaricom Ethiopia’s Chief Sales and Distribution Officer, Amit Chandiramani, led the opening of new retail shops in Hawzen and Frewoyni, bringing services closer to customers.
The Mayor of Hawzen, H.E. Areaya Hailemariam, and the Deputy Mayor of Frewoyni, H.E. Netsanet, attended the launch and shop opening events.
This development marks the second phase of Safaricom Ethiopia’s North region expansion, with the company continuing its mission to connect more towns and residents across the country.
