Kyivstar has provided its subscribers with the opportunity to use 5G in roaming - from now on, fifth-generation mobile Internet is available in 15 countries.
This step is an important stage in the process of preparing for the full launch of 5G in Ukraine, which is actively being carried out by Kyivstar in cooperation with the state.
From July 21, 2025, the company's subscribers can use high-speed mobile Internet of the fifth generation. The service became possible thanks to cooperation with foreign operators who have already deployed 5G networks in their countries. Currently, high-speed Internet is available in 15 countries around the world, including: Poland, Romania, Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Iceland, Vietnam, Armenia, Moldova and Egypt. Other countries will soon join this list.
Using 5G in roaming does not require additional configuration and does not affect the cost of services - mobile Internet is used in accordance with the terms of the subscriber's current tariff package.
According to Kyivstar, the vast majority of subscribers abroad continue to use their number as their primary number. This is due to the fact that the cost of roaming from Kyivstar is significantly lower than the tariffs of local mobile operators in other countries.
Thanks to the service "Roaming like at home", subscribers can use their tariff plan abroad in the same way as in Ukraine. It is enough to pay for the tariff to use package minutes and SMS, as well as receive a separate volume of megabytes for the Internet in roaming. The provision of such a service is part of social support for subscribers who are temporarily abroad.
As of 2025, almost 3 million subscribers used the “Roaming like at home” service. The most active users were those subscribers who were in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary. On average, subscribers used 7 GB of mobile Internet per month and made more than 150 minutes of calls, 85% of which were on the Kyivstar network.
The “Roaming like at home” service is available to Kyivstar subscribers in 28 countries around the world and is included in the tariff plan and is valid by default — no additional activation is required. It is included in more than 100 prepaid, contract and business customer tariffs. If necessary, you can change the tariff plan in the “My Kyivstar” application or using a USSD code.
