Prime Video viewers in the Netherlands will start to see ads in between the programmes as of next months.
An email sent by Amazon to its subscribers in the country says: “’From August 26, Prime Video movies and series will contain limited ads.”
As with other territories, and in a different model to other streaming services that have introduced ads, a premium of €2.99 is payable to continue watching ad free.
In the Netherlands, Amazon Prime is currently priced significantly lower than in many other countries. Subscribers pay €4.99 per month (or €49.90 per year) as opposed to the more typical €8.99 per month paid in neighbouring Germany.
No details have been released as to when subscribers in neighbouring Belgium will begin to see ads.
