Bahrain and Kuwait strengthen strategic partnership in transportation and infrastructure

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, received Dr. Noura Mohammed Al Mashaan, Minister of Public Works of the State of Kuwait, as part of her official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The minister commended the deep-rooted ties and longstanding strategic partnership between Bahrain and Kuwait, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation. He noted that these relations reflect the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait.

The visit aimed to advance cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise in the fields of transportation, logistics, and infrastructure development.

During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed underscored the strength of Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations, highlighting the continued support and attention they receive from the leadership in both countries. He emphasised Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to reinforcing Gulf cooperation in vital sectors.

He also emphasised the importance of expanding collaboration in infrastructure and transport, ensuring seamless maritime connectivity, and pushing forward joint Gulf economic initiatives in line with the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for greater regional integration.

On her part, Dr. Noura Al Mashaan expressed pride in the strong ties between Kuwait and Bahrain, describing them as a model for constructive Gulf cooperation. She commended Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to enhance its transportation and port infrastructure and emphasised the importance of continuing collaborative work to develop logistics services and embrace digital innovation in support of regional economic integration and development goals.

A joint working meeting was held to discuss means to activate existing agreements and enhance joint initiatives, particularly in the fields of port operations, maritime navigation, and land transport. The two ministers emphasised the importance of clear implementation frameworks, the exchange of expertise, and coordinated action to support strategic Gulf infrastructure projects that promote economic interconnectivity and mobility across the region.

At the conclusion of the visit, the ministers toured Khalifa Bin Salman Port, including the cruise terminal, followed by a boat tour to the Bu Maher Fort Museum. The visit offered the Kuwaiti delegation a cultural experience highlighting Bahrain’s rich maritime heritage and historical links to seafaring.
