At Morocco’s inaugural National AI Summit, the country announced a landmark partnership with Current AI, signaling a major advancement toward fostering ethical artificial intelligence across Africa.
Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, representing Morocco’s Digital Transition, signed a memorandum of understanding with Current AI, backed by substantial government funding. This agreement positions Morocco as a founding member of the global initiative dedicated to developing AI technologies that serve the common good.
Launched in Paris in February with $400 million in funding from the French government, the AI Collaborative, and various philanthropic and corporate partners, Current AI aims to create open, inclusive AI systems governed by strong ethical frameworks.
Martin Tisne, president of Current AI’s steering committee, welcomed Morocco as a founding member, highlighting the partnership’s role in advancing AI grounded in local values, languages, and histories, and strengthening collaboration between Morocco and the global AI community.
