Vodafone Idea has announced it will deploy its 5G network in 23 additional cities across India, as the operator continues to compete with rivals for dominance in the 5G space.
In a statement, the company said the following cities will see phased 5G deployments: Ahmedabad, Agra, Aurangabad, Kozhikode, Cochin, Dehradun, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Malappuram, Meerut, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Rajkot, Sonepat, Surat, Siliguri, Trivandrum, Vadodara, and Vizag.
This announcement follows Vodafone Idea’s recent 5G launches in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Patna.
The latest deployment plans are part of the operator’s broader strategic rollout across 17 priority circles where it acquired 5G spectrum. To promote adoption, Vodafone Idea has introduced an introductory offer priced at INR 299 for unlimited 5G data.
The company is also deploying AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) and has partnered with global technology providers Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung. These partnerships aim to support the seamless integration of Vodafone Idea’s advanced 4G and 5G infrastructure, while also reinforcing its focus on sustainability.
“Our 5G rollout is progressing steadily in a phased manner, and we’re excited to bring next-gen connectivity to more users. At the same time, we’re strengthening our 4G network to ensure a seamless experience for our users. With enhanced indoor coverage, increased capacity, and 84% population coverage with our 4G network, we remain focused on delivering superior digital experiences to Vi users,” said Vodafone Idea CTO Jagbir Singh .
The operator also highlighted that its 4G subscriber base had increased by 88 million, rising from 77% of its user base in March 2024 to 84% currently. This growth was driven by ongoing network expansion since April 2024, during which more sites were added.
