Algeria Telecom launches online survey to identify fiber connectivity gaps

Algeria Telecom has initiated an online survey inviting Algerian citizens to help pinpoint areas currently lacking fibre connectivity, in preparation for a nationwide fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout planned for 2026. The survey, described as a “participatory mechanism,” aims to accelerate fibre deployment by incorporating customer feedback on underserved locations.

According to Algérie Press Service, the results of the survey will guide the telco in studying and integrating uncovered areas into future FTTH network expansion projects, aligning with customer needs and aspirations.

Algeria Telecom’s FTTH subscriber base has seen rapid growth, increasing from 53,000 in 2020 to over 2 million by April 2025. Despite this progress, fibre coverage still reaches only 27% of Algeria’s 7.4 million households as of March 2024, highlighting significant opportunities for network expansion.

Data from Data Reportal shows that 76.9% of Algerians were internet users at the beginning of 2025, primarily through mobile connections.

The online survey will remain accessible on the Algeria Telecom website until the end of July.
