SK Telecom continues its innovation in roaming services by launching the ‘T In-Flight Wi-Fi Automatic Roaming’ service together with SK Telink. 'T In-flight Wi-Fi Automatic Roaming' is a service that allows customers to automatically connect to in-flight Wi-Fi without a separate authentication process simply by signing up for the service before boarding, and was implemented for the first time in the world by SKT and SK Telink. This is a technological advancement from the 'T In-flight Wi-Fi' service that SKT introduced for the first time among domestic mobile carriers in July of last year, and customers can now use in-flight Wi-Fi much more conveniently.
'T In-flight Wi-Fi', launched by SKT last year, simplified the service usage process so that all procedures can be completed on the SKT website or at the SKT roaming center in the airport without going through the airline. Customers can check if their flight has Wi-Fi availability on the T Roaming website or at the airport roaming center, then sign up for the service. After signing up, simply enter the voucher code received via text message when connecting to Wi-Fi on board to use the Internet right away.
Currently, 'T In-flight Wi-Fi Automatic Roaming' is available on some Korean Air flights, and SKT plans to increase the number of aircraft that support automatic roaming in-flight Wi-Fi on major domestic airlines in the future. T In-flight Wi-Fi rates are divided into four types based on flight distance: long-distance (KRW 29,700), medium-distance (KRW 19,800), short-distance (KRW 17,600), and ultra-short-distance (KRW 8,800), and the automatic roaming and voucher rates are the same. The ultra-short-distance rate is only available on Korean Air, and can be used on flights of less than 2 hours, such as Osaka, Fukuoka, and Qingdao.
