SAMENA Council participated in the inaugural meeting of the members of the Digital Innovation Board of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development, represented by its CEO, Bocar BA, who is among 23 distinguished individuals selected to serve as members of the Board, based on their expression of interest and a nomination process by the Telecommunications Development Bureau.
The inaugural meeting of the Digital Innovation Board helped align the shared vision on fostering digital innovation and entrepreneurship through tangible outcomes, defined within the ITU’s overall vision.
SAMENA Council believes that ITU's commitment to digital advancement, digital inclusion, and catalyzing socio-economic progress for every single of the world’s citizens, now stands at a pivotal juncture in our cooperation and collaboration building efforts; our attention to fostering innovation; and shared necessity to achieve milestones, sustainably. In this regard, the role of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development and, especially, of the Digital Innovation Board members, is crucial for materializing anticipated successes.
The Alliance is accelerating innovation capacity and creating linkages at the national, regional and global level, with industry bodies, such as SAMENA Council, leading a contributing role in advancing the Alliance’s efforts, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in digital development with relevant stakeholders and prospective partners within and outside of the SA-ME-NA region, while working closely with governments, regulators, telecom operators, technology providers, and relevant UN agencies.
As a part of its affirmation to support the work of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development, SAMENA Council will amplify the Alliance’s mission, provide strategic guidance, expertise, and advocacy for engaging diverse layers of the digital ecosystem to significantly enhance the impact of Alliance’s work, to the effect that momentum for inclusive and sustainably-implemented digital policies and initiatives is created.
