Ammar Hamadien is the Head of Strategic Engagement at the GSM Association (GSMA). Prior to joining the GSMA, Ammar was the CEO of Chinguitel in Mauritania. Prior to that he worked with Zain Group in Kuwait, Bahrain and Sudan from 2007-2015. During his time with Zain, Ammar was instrumental in the development and execution of the Group’s Products and Services strategies in all of their 24 markets up to 2010. From 2010-2015, Ammar was responsible for the design and launch of innovative services such as M2M, Mobile Money and a host of Value Added Services across Zain’s footprint in the Middle East.

Ammar also worked with Etisalat in UAE and Sudan from 2003-2006. From 1993-2002 he worked in the Silicon Valley where he started his career in the ICT industry with NOW Electronics (1993-1999), then joined HP as a R&D Engineer (1999-2000), and moved to Cisco Systems as a Systems Engineer (2000-2002).

Ammar received his MBA in Telecoms Management from Imperial College London Business School, and his BS in Management Information Systems from San Jose State University. He is currently writing his doctoral thesis at the University of Bradford School of Management in the UK.
