IPTV aides Rostelecom growth

The Russian incumbent Rostelecom saw a 12% increase in its IPTV take-up in the year to March 31, ending the first quarter with a total of 5 million subscribers.

Its pay-TV services as a whole had 9.9 million customers, a 5% increase on the same period last year.

Rostelecom’s MVNO offer enjoyed even more impressive growth, with the number of subscribers in Q1 amounting to 10.9 million, up 292% year-on-year.

However, broadband take-up was up by a more modest 2%, to 12.7 million.

At the same time, the B2C broadband subscribers base also grew by 2% to 12 million, and the number of subscribers connected by fibre-optic increased by 7% year-on-year to 7.8 million, or 65% of the subscribers base.

Rostelecom had revenues of R76,203 million (€1,031 million) in Q1, up 8% on a year earlier. OIBDA was R23,194 million (+0.1%) and net income R3,864 million (+15%).
