Singapore’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers StarHub has demonstrated Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) technology in partnership with equipment vendor Nokia Networks of Finland. The demo, carried out at the cellco’s city-state headquarters, reportedly achieved peak download speeds of 600Mbps using 4X4 multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technology with LTE-A Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology. Further, the pair say they also successfully showcased tri-band CA technology using a commercially available mobile device, as StarHub forges ahead with plans to offer ever faster mobile broadband internet services in future.

Commenting on the live test, Mock Pak Lum, chief technology officer, StarHub said: ‘4G is still on the evolution path, and we are readying ourselves to meet the ever-growing demand for bandwidth-heavy applications and services on faster, more advanced smartphones. Through this demonstration of our LTE-Advanced capabilities, we want to reiterate our focus on leveraging latest technologies to provide our customers with the best possible service experience.’
