Sky is no longer the limit for the UAE

In what can be seen as an example of careful strategic detailing, coming on the back of an earlier announcement about the UAE’s mission to Mars through an unmanned probe to be launched in July 2020, is the revelation of a Dh100 million space research centre to be housed in Al Ain.

The setting up of a space research centre dovetails seamlessly into other ambitious plans for the UAE, which will endeavour to make incursions into space and joining bigger players on the world stage.

Milestones must be crossed one step at a time. The plan to develop human resources, infrastructure and scientific research is the primary objective. The blueprint for this has been established. It will foster cooperation and collaboration across a broad spectrum, enabling sustainable development and allowing the country to advance towards building scientific capabilities.

The ingredient that drives this quest is ambition. This is the key element that has placed the UAE as a frontrunner in the domain of multiple advancements.

The vision of the country’s leaders extracts the best accomplishments from its citizens. It will give the nation a unique place internationally and a prime position in the space sector, which will be spearheaded by the best talents available in its workforce.

The Mars mission has appropriately been titled Hope. This sentiment is slowly being turned into reality. The realisation of this will be perceived as a source of inspiration, development and innovation for the future generation of UAE citizens and Arab youth. It is the perfect antidote to a better, brighter future, in troubled times, as it highlights the spirit of solidarity.

More importantly, the initiative of setting up a space research centre heralds a new awakening in the consciousness of the country. It signifies that there are no boundaries for the people of the UAE, guided by exemplary and visionary leadership. The sky is no longer the limit for its list of achievements, as the country attempts to establish its footprint into space.
