Belarusian mobile operator Velcom, a fully consolidated subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group, has announced a free trial of its mobile TV service, Mobile TV Voka, which allows users to watch TV channels and movies on their smartphone or tablet over the cellco’s 3G network or via Wi-Fi, without being charged for mobile data traffic as part of their standard tariff plan. Currently offering a range of more than 30 TV channels, and more than 1,500 Russian-speaking and foreign films, Voka TV is free for the first 30 days and BYR3,000 (USD0.21) per 24-hour period thereafter, it says. Mobile TV Voka was launched for Velcom subscribers with Android-based mobile devices in October 2014, with a Windows Phone version of the mobile TV service added in January 2015.

TeleGeography notes that Velcom reported a total of 4.921 million mobile subscribers at 31 March 2015, down 0.4% year-on-year and below the 4.950 million recorded at end-2014.
