Cable & Wireless Jamaica, which operates under the LIME brand, has acquired spectrum in the advanced wireless services (AWS) band between 1710MHz and 2200MHz which will enable it to deploy a Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G mobile network. The firm paid JMD2.6 billion (USD23.1 million) for the frequencies, the Jamaica Gleaner reports. LIME competes in Jamaica’s wireless market with international mobile group Digicel.
