Verizon invests $100 mn in South Louisiana for 4G LTE

Verizon Wireless has invested $99.5 million in wireless network to provide more reliable wireless calling, data streaming and web surfing services.

Verizon has also enhanced its XLTE and 4G LTE services and introduced new cell sites for its customer across south Louisiana.

The company said XLTE, deployed last year, helps in boosting 4G LTE network capacity and enhances high speed services for customers.

Verizon’s capital investment also fuels severe weather preparations like hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes and wildfires when network reliability is crucial.

Company officials said that south Louisiana has 50 new cell sites to strengthen coverage and capacity of the wireless network.

Since 2000, the wireless operator has invested more than $100 billion to add new services and increase coverage.

“We were particularly excited to launch XLTE this past year, as it provides 4G LTE services better, faster and to even more customers. We will continue to focus on our customers and their everyday needs by empowering them with the latest in innovative technology backed by a network they can count on when they need it most,” said Krista Bourne, president, Houston/Golf Coast region- Verizon wireless.

Verizon has recently expanded its cloud offering in Hong Kong, Melbourne and Singapore in March 2015. Verizon will target multinational companies for improvement in memory, storage and enhanced flexibility.

Last month, Verizon said IoT connections in business are expected to reach 5.4 billion in the next five years, in its Internet of things (IoT) report 2015.
