Servicio di Telecomunicacion di Aruba (SETAR), the state-owned wireline, wireless and internet operator in Aruba, has chosen Acision’s Diameter Intelligent Signalling Controller (DiSC) solution to improve operational efficiency, quality of service and ensure better traffic management across its 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. SETAR, the largest mobile operator by subscribers in Aruba, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, is deploying the Acision DiSC system to broker and route local and international voice traffic generated by all of its networks, with a view to managing, optimising and differentiating network elements, while effectively charging all traffic in real-time, ensuring better service quality and reducing CAPEX and OPEX costs. The DiSC implementation is being made with an eye on future network developments for SETAR, including voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), a press release indicates.

Raul Ponson, CTO at SETAR, said: ‘With the addition of DiSC to our network, we are now prepared to provide all of our mobile customers with real-time information regarding their usage of voice and data services when at home or roaming outside of Aruba. We are not only ready to handle the immediate rating of all usage for pre-paid, post-paid and hybrid customers, but will have a future-proof solution which, when the time is right, can manage impending traffic from the expected rise in services such as personalised and shared mobile data plans, mobile advertising, machine-to-machine (M2M) services, MVNE and enhanced OTT applications.’
