NT formally launches versatile mobile app

Nepal Telecom (NT) has officially launched its mobile app which provides the latest information about the company besides permitting its customers to pay their utility bills online.

Speaking to the media on Monday, NT’s Managing Director Buddhi Prasad Acharya said that the new app featured a number of programmes.“The app could enhance the quality of services being provided by NT to its customers,” he added.

NT had actually released the mobile app on February 5 to mark its 11th anniversary. It had introduced a similar app last year too. However, it could not expand its service as there were a small number of programmes and there was no interactive module.

Acharya said that the user friendly app would deliver value services to customers.

Presenting a paper, Deputy Manager Dilli Adhikari said the app would allow customers to receive instant information about NT products. “Besides, it also helps customers to receive billing information, file complaints and pay utility bills,” he said.

According to NT, the app provides information about the cost of mobile and fixed phones and internet services. Customers can also find out their balance and recharge their GSM and CDMA phones.

They can register their complaints about NT’s services and make inquiries through 197, GSM 1498, CDMA 191, ADSL/PSTN 198 and WiMAX.

Similarly, the app also enables customers to get quick access to its important notices and the major decisions of its directorate and departments.

According to NT, customers using smartphones, tablets or notepads running the Android operating system can install the new app through the Google Play Store.

Similarly, iPhone users can download the app from the Apple App Store.

An estimated 9 million people use NT’s GSM service while around 140,000 people use its CDMA service. Similarly, an estimated 3 million Nepalese use smartphones.

The new app has been released for the benefit of NT’s customers and smartphone users, NT said. More than 10,000 people have downloaded the new app since it was launched on February 5, the company added.
