Fruits of LIME investment evident; 100Mbps fibre goes nationwide

Caymanian telco LIME has reportedly concluded the rollout of its nationwide fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network on schedule, following a USD30 million investment programme. Back in March 2014 the telco, which is backed by regional powerhouse Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), declared that all citizens would have access to speeds of 100Mbps by March 2015, and LIME has now confirmed that it has met this objective. News portal Compass Cayman quotes chief technology officer Avik Datta as saying: ‘I’m delighted to let you know that we have completed our rollout of ‘Superfast Broadband’ and everyone in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac is now able to connect to Superfast Broadband.’ A 100Mbps/5Mbps down/uplink package is currently priced at KYD299 (USD350) per month.
