Three is bringing 4G to Lincoln

EE, O2 and Vodafone have already brought 4G coverage to Lincoln and now it seems that it’s Three’s turn. While the network hasn’t brought coverage to the whole city yet some areas already have it, so if you’re on Three and notice a 4G symbol on your phone that’s why.

It’s still not clear when the whole city will have 4G access though, as speaking to The Lincolnite a Three spokesperson simply said “4G has gone live in some parts of Lincoln which is why some customers may be experiencing 4G.

“We’re bringing 4G to the area soon, but we’re not able to give any specific dates at the moment. As soon as we start adding 4G to the network in Lincoln, we’ll let our customers know. In the meantime, our advanced 3G network will continue to give Three customers a great mobile internet experience.”

So there you have it, if you’re a Three customer you should have reliable 4G coverage in the city ‘soon’, which sounds promising at least.

In the meantime you can check Three’s coverage map to get a better idea of which areas might have 4G. Assuming the map is up to date it looks like there should be outdoor coverage in many areas to the west and south west of the city centre at the time of writing, while areas around Hykeham and Doddington road should also have indoor coverage.

Once Three does have complete coverage that will be all four of the major UK networks providing 4G to Lincoln, so no-one need be left on a slow connection.
