Intel Egypt wraps up 2014 and unveiles new technology trends in 2015

Intel Egypt ended the year 2014at a press conference held today wrapping up the company's different milestones and achievements as well as giving a future-forward look into the technology trends coming up in 2015.

"Intel's goal is to provide opportunities for people in Egypt to participate in today's global economy through information and communications technologies," commented Eng. Karim El Fateh, Country Manager Intel Egypt. "We are proud to wrap up 2014; we are now looking forward to accomplish more success in 2015. Intel Egypt is still implementing 'Egypt Tomorrow' initiative; we achieved a lot and aiming to achieve more."

On the technology side, 2014 marked the launch of the next-generation Intel® Education Tablet and Intel® classmate PC reference designs built specifically for education, to engage students and empower teachers. In addition, Intel also launched Xeon® Processor E7 v2, and the eight-core Intel® Core™ processor Extreme Edition, which is Intel's first eight-core client processor.

 

Intel Egypt concluded the year with remarkable technologies that support education, innovation and entrepreneurship through the company's ongoing programs including:

-650,000 teachers trained through the Intel® teach program, which aims at educating teachers to use and utilize technology in the classroom.

-250,000 students trained through the Intel® Learn Program,which aims at educating students on how to use technology in the classroom.

-Intel® Youth Enterprise Ideation Camp Program,is designed to train participants in the art of ideation, entrepreneurship and customer driven innovation. It is a transformational educational model designed to help them experience and develop skills to work on real challenges facing Egypt and come-up with implementable IT-solutions.

 

 

-Intel sponsoring Cairo Innovates,the program aims to stimulate scientific innovation in Egypt through creating a hub that excites people about science and research, connects innovators to enablers and key stakeholders, and allows local innovators to exhibit and commercialize their inventions.

-"Make It Wearable" Global Challenge, is designed toaccelerate creativity and innovation with technology. Among the 27 selected countries involved in the challenge, Egypt is the only country selected from the Middle East. The aim of the challenge is to increase dialogue and cooperation between the end consumer and technology industries.

-Intel Easy Steps program, which aimsto support women to reach their maximum potential through technology and education. The program is deployed with the Ministry of Youth and an NGO partner and focuses on technology literacy while providing adult women with entrepreneurship and business skills trainings. In addition, the program enables women to elevate themselves professionally and break through barriers to personal economic growth hence, equipping them with the skills to inspire change in their community and society. To date, Intel Easy Steps has reached 6,000 Egyptian women.

-Entrepreneurial Hackathon, is a training designed to help youth come upwith ideas and implement them to real mobile apps/products which will solve real life problems and will increase business efficiency. Also, participants are going to get technical training on the full software development cycle of the hardware needed for the product deployment.

-Empowering Prototypes,providing technical users with a fully open source hardware and software development environment, the Intel Galileo Gen 2 board. It is the first in a family of Arduino*-certified development and prototyping boards based on Intel® architecture and specifically designed for makers, students, educators, and DIY electronics enthusiasts.The Intel Galileo Gen 2 development board is designed to be hardware-, software-, and pin-compatible with a wide range of Arduino Uno* R3 shields and additionally allows users to incorporate Linux* firmware calls in their Arduino sketch programming

-Intel® Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)for the first time this year, ISEF local fairs resulted in 8 winning teams across three governorates in Egypt. The local fairs took place in the following locations: Cairo and Luxor through joint participation between Intel/Misr El-Kheir (IMSEF) resulting in three winning projects from Cairo and two winning projects from Luxor. In Alexandria the local fair was in collaboration between Intel/Bibliotheca of Alexandria (IBASEF) resulting in three winning projects.

-Intel® Science Competition - Arab World, which aims to encourage intermediate and secondary level students aged 14-18 to gain interest in scientific research and execute scientific and research projects.

-Intel® Business Challenge, this year featured 3700 project submissions from some of the most creative and innovative students and graduates from different universities across the Middle East and North Africa. Four projects from MENA region competed at Intel global Challenge in in Silicon Valley in the USA

-Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with and Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), which aims to improve and protect youth innovation with high professional standards in trainings, learning and communication.

-Ibtiecar Competition with TIEC, Consistent with our mission to support innovation and entrepreneurship, and in the quest for discovering talented people and innovative ideas, products, or services, Intel sponsored Ibtiecar "TIEC Graduation Projects Competition". The competition is launched in cooperation with Multinationals and MCIT affiliated organizations, for technical universities' students in the graduation year, recognizing the best graduation projects in this year.

Outlook for 2015:
Wearables are at a pivotal stage in terms of consumer demand, as they begin to move beyond the industry hype and confinements of the R&D laboratories and into the mainstream.Intel is at the heart of what makes wearables possible: connectivity everywhere, ever-smaller microprocessors and the trend towards social technology. Intel has over 40 years' experience of solving problems of physics and engineering to push technology into new and smaller places, and continues to lead the way into 2015 and beyond.

Next year, Intel Egypt will introduce a range of new technologies such as Internet of Things Platform (IoT), Big Data, and new Products such as new Ultrabook™ 2 in 1, Intel® NUC ,Intel® Galileo Gen 2 Board and Intel® Edison Module.
