Huawei Device is expressing more interest in embedded touch panel solutions for smartphones released in 2015, according to industry sources.
The company is aiming to obtain more integrated solutions from supply chain makers in order to increase its time-to-market as well as cut costs. Huawei is also aiming to expand its lineup of smartphones aimed at various markets both in and out of China.
The sources added that embedded touch panels are currently used in Huawei's P7 units and that the company plans to use them in a variety of high-end, mid-range and entry-level units in 2015.
Sharp, JDI, LG Display and various Taiwan-based makers are also investing in embedded touch displays geared toward the increasing demand in China, the sources added.
