The government has launched two web portals with detailed information on the services provided by different government offices and government application forms respectively under its Access to Information (a2i) programme.

Speaker of the National Parliament Dr Shrin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the portals at the two-day “Social Good Summit 2014” at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center yesterday.

Prime Minister's Office (PMO) have developed the web portals in order to ensure people's easy access to information, said the a2i officials.

The service portal is likely to reduce hassle of people while searching for information about different government services. On the other hand, the form portal contains 1,010 application forms of different government bodies; therefore, one can easily search and avail the forms of their choice.

The service portal contains necessary information (process, cost and time duration) about 363 types of government services under different offices ranging from the ministries to union offices, said the a2i officials.

The speaker said: “Though it is a very good initiative to take government services to peoples' door steps, however, it will become futile if people do not take help from it.”

State Minister of Information Communication Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said soon the services will reach people through mobile phone applications.

Acting secretary of the Cabinet Division Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh Pauline Temesis and Director General of PMO Kabir Bin Anwar were present at the programme.
