Etisalat - first to put free tablet on a data plan for customers in the UAE

Etisalat expands its device and data bundling portfolio, and launches specially designed tablet data bundles to meet the growing demand of its customers in the UAE.

Hunger for data is on the rise in the UAE and Gulf Countries[1], as is the world over. While the shift from feature phones to smartphones continues at a super-fast pace, a recent trend indicates the growing acceptance of tablets as a replacement to laptops and desktops at homes in the UAE.

In response to the evolving tablet usage for data-specific needs, Etisalat has launched affordable tablet post-paid data bundles that offer customers flexible purchase options and ease of payment on a 12-month and 24-month contract basis. For as low as AED150 per month, post-paid customers can get their hands on a free tablet and a minimum 1GB data allowance. Device options include Samsung Tab S among others, all of which are available in varying sizes and colours. Customer can choose to upgrade their data plan with extra AED100 or AED200 per month for 5GB or 10GB respectively. A one-time extra charge may apply on certain plans.

Prepaid customers can get a contract-free tablet-data bundle on an upfront payment basis with 1GB free data for the first month and AED99 per month thereafter.

Khaled Elkhouly, Chief Marketing Officer, at Etisalat, said, “Among the growing number of tablet users in the UAE, there is a surge of children using tablets for both educational and entertainment purposes. Our new tablet data bundle packs are designed to cater to the data needs of children and adults alike. Therefore, as the new academic year kicks off, it is a pocket-friendly offer that parents can look at taking up for their children.”

Etisalat has a nationwide 3G (HSPA+) coverage and a 4G LTE network that covers 85 per cent of the country’s inhabited area. It is well equipped to meet the data needs of its most demanding mobile customers, including tablet owners who will be able to connect to the Internet at super speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

Customers can also purchase Etisalat’s Smartphone Protection Plan to protect their devices within and outside UAE from theft and accidental damage. The protection plans are in partnership with AXA Insurance.
