Dewa 's smartwatch app also helps find customer service centres and contact numbers. Would you pay your bill using a smartwatch? Well, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( Dewa ) thinks so and now you can not only check your bills but also pay them using the Samsung Gear.
Earlier in September, Dewa had announced that it had launched the smartwatch app where you can check your bills.
However, the app works in co-ordination with your Dewa app downloaded on the smartphone.
This is the first public utility service and the first government department in the UAE to come out with an app for the smartwatch. The features are enabled on both Samsung Gear 1 and Gear 2.
Dewa bills can also be paid through smartphone apps, Dewa 's website and through mPAY, which enables you to simply send an SMS to activate the payment.
Dewa 's smartwatch app also offers other features such as enabling users to find customer service centres and contact numbers.
"These efforts will help us to achieve our goal to complement smart transformation in the UAE and achieve the vision of our wise leadership," said Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO at Dewa .
Apart from Android Dewa has also developed apps on other platforms such as Apple, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
