Qualcomm ready to launch 64-bit processor by the end this year

Qualcomm is the processing power of most of the premium flagship phones today. It’s Snapdragon 800 and 801 chipset powers some of the best in the market today, like the HTC One M7 and One M8, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, LG G3, Xiaomi Mi3 and more.
 
Last week the roadmap of new Qualcomm processors leaked online via the Chinese social media website Sina-Weibo. The pictures posted revealed the chip-makers’ plans to launch its different high-end processors.
 
Between late Q3 this year to early Q4 next year, the company will release new high end chipsets from the Snapdragon 600 family. These are Snapdragon 610 MSM8936 (quad-core Cortex A53 that could be clocked at a speed of 1.8 Ghz) and Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 (octa-core based on 4 Cortex A53 at 1.8 GHz and 4 Cortex A53 at a speed of 1.0 Ghz) processors.
 
These two new chips will sport support for 64-bit processing and will support the latest Adreno 405 graphics processing unit.
 
In late 2014 or in early 2015 the company could launch a new Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor. This is a “more powerful” processor with two quad-core units and Adreno 430 graphics processor.
 
This will be followed by the Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 chip in Q2 or Q3 of next year. This is a hexa-core processor with support for Adreo418 graphics card.
 
The Snapdragon 810 and 808 are powerful pocessors meant for “premium line-up so they’ll find their way towards the most powerful future flagship Smartphones”, says GForGames.
 
64-bit competitors
 
After the launch of iphone 5S and 5C sporting a 64-bit processor, competition increased in this segment. Samsung announced making of a 64-bit processor this year in February. The Galaxy Note 4 (set to launch soon) I expected to sport this new Exynos 5433 64-bir processor. Soon in July this year MediaTek announced MT6795 true octa-core chip that supports 64-bit processing.
 
This year Apple is expected to launch the New Iphone, Iphone 6 next month. This new phone is rumoured to be based on a next-generation faster A8 chipset with 4-bir processing power, 20nm setup. (Source: KnowYourMobile) In case Apple goes for this processor, it is sure to get a long list of competitors that use a similar 64-bit processing power for their mini marvels.
