Smartthink to offer ICT courses to Street Academy

Smartthink Limited an Information Technology, Business and E-Testing hub on Thursday expressed its readiness to offer Information Communication Technology (ICT) courses for pupils at Street Academy School in Accra.

Mr Nathan Adofo, Executive Director, who made it known, said this would enable the kids to develop their potentials in ICT Skills and Career and also bridge the gap between the less privileged and privileged children in the society.

He made this known when his organisation and the London School of Commerce (LSC) presented 240 pieces of mathematical sets valued at 2,000 pounds sterling to the school at a ceremony in Accra.

According to Mr Adofo, his organisation wants to use the opportunity to sensitise the children on variety of ICT courses available, adding that it is time for the children to make up their mind to choose Information Technology as a career.

He said ICT courses would not be limited to pupils of Street Academy but would be extended to the teachers in the school at no cost.

Ms Sophia Aubyn, Representative of International Marketing Office of LSC, said her organisation is also going to offer partial scholarships to the kids in the area of ICT.

She said the London School of Commerce is also willing to offer scholarships to students from first degree to the highest academic level.

Ms Anita Annan, an Administrator of Street Academy, thanked the two organisations for the items.

She said the school is in need of food, stationery and other basic amenities to enhance teaching and learning.

“The items has taken a burden off their shoulders as you will be in the office and pupil would throng in only to ask of pencil, pen among others,’’ she added.
