Romania's ANCOM suspended the activity of 49 telecom companies for 60 days

The Romanian national telecom authority ANCOM has suspended the activity of 49 telecom companies for 60 days for failing to comply with their obligations to place at the disposal of the authority the statistics covering the first half of the year 2013.

At end February, ANCOM announced it had sent notifications for temporary halt of service to 187 telecom providers who had not fulfilled their obligations to communicate statistics for this period.

After operators comply with their obligations to transmit the statistics, the restrictions will be lifted.

In case they fail to do so, the telecom watchdog will proceed with withdrawing for good their authorization to provide telecom networks and services.

Starting July 1, 2013, telecom providers are under the obligation to send ANCOM statistics via an online application, using a certified electronic signature.

The statistics is used to monitor the telecom market in Romania and carry out the necessary market analysis for the regulation process.
