Sky trials Twitter recording tool

Sky is to begin trialing a mobile Twitter tool that allows its customers to watch or record TV shows by clicking on icons which appear in tweets.

The service, dubbed #WatchOnSky, will enable Sky’s 3.7m Twitter followers to open picture links embedded within tweets to either jump to IPTV service Sky Go or send a remote recording request to their Sky + box.

According to Sky it marks the first time a broadcaster has let users access live TV and set recording via a Twitter feed.

Sky Atlantic was the first to test the service last night, sending a message about Mad Men to its 40,000 followers. It was followed by Sky 1 which posted a reminder about entertainment format Duck Quacks Don’t Echo to its 94,000 followers.
