Organizations Look to Boost Business Agility Through New Cloud Platforms

With over 450 delegates at this week’s Cloud World Forum MENA hosted in Dubai, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider—has brought together a delegation of regional and international experts to investigate how new digital platforms will help local businesses and telecom operators to create a competitive advantage through cloud-based ICT solutions.

As Principal Sponsor of the event, Huawei displayed live demos of its latest technologies that viewers were able to witness and experience. In addition, Huawei participated in a series of hot topic sessions that addressed the most talked about challenges facing the ICT industry today.

Organizations in the region are being challenged to handle real-time operations with a huge amount of data arriving at a rate much faster than ever before. From music and videos to medical records, call records and other machine-generated data, the challenge now is deciding how to safely and efficiently process this information to sort out what is valuable and what is not. Much of this year’s forum focused specifically on new technology applications for the local government, oil & gas, and healthcare entities.

Market intelligence firm IDC has predicted that IT investment in the region reached $32 billion in 2013 with earlier research noting that public and private clouds were ranked as key issues amongst CIOs in the Middle East, with 57% of CIOs rating cloud among their top IT priorities[1].

“Technology innovation into new service areas is driving the economy as a whole, and the telecommunications industry in particular, in the direction of cloud-based services,” notes Pietro Hagemann, Executive Director of IT & Cloud Computing Solutions, Huawei. “Telecom operators will need to enhance and enrich their service portfolio to transform themselves into truly end-to-end service providers. Businesses have also recognized the efforts being made to build the public’s confidence in data security in the cloud, and how such frameworks can allow organizations to analyze vast amounts of data that until now had largely existed in silos.”

With the dawn of a new cloud computing era, Huawei presented its FusionCube solution at the event showcasing how the IT infrastructure platform can empower businesses through distributed storage, an open virtualization platform, and best-in-class cloud management software.  Amongst the Huawei experts delivering keynotes at this year’s Cloud World Forum MENA were Pietro Hagemann, Executive Director of IT & Cloud Computing Solutions at Huawei, as well as Sudheer Subramanian, Enterprise IT Solution Director at Huawei Middle East.

Huawei has been an innovator in the cloud IT field for more than a decade. In recent years, Huawei has grown its operations in the Middle East, developing its services across three main business groups serving telecom carriers, enterprises and consumers.
